The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced on Thursday that Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra will captain a 37-person track and field team Commonwealth Games, which will take place in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8.

Olympic Olympians Murali Sreeshankar (men’s long jump) and Avinash Sable (men’s 3000m steeplechase) have already confirmed their participation, according to the AFI. Hima Das and Dutee Chand will participate in the 4×100-meter relay team.

Certain athletes, including as Tejinderpal Singh Toor, the shot putter, and discus thrower Seema Punia, were provisionally named in the squad but will need to demonstrate their performance in events held before the Commonwealth Games.
