On Sunday, American swimmer Caeleb Dressel won the men’s 50-meter freestyle final. He touched in 21:07, ahead of bronze medallist Bruno Fratus of Brazil (21:57) and silver medallist Florent Manaudou of France (21:55).
Dressel swam once more in the men’s 4X100-meter medley relay final alongside his American colleagues Michael Andrew, Ryan Murphy, and Zach Apple. The quartet won the competition and set a new world record with a time of 3:26.78.
Italy finished third in 3:29.71, behind the British who won the silver in a time that set a new European record of 3:27.51.
